Aid Africa’s Children’s Pizza Party Fundraiser at the Silver Lake Marina Pavilion Restaurant in Salem, Wisconsin was a huge success!

Over 60 enthusiastic persons attended this event to raise funds for a new boat engine for the sole transportation boat that Lake Tanganyika locals rely on to access to food, clothing and medical treatment. Many of the people using the boat were often stranded on the boat for an indeterminate amount time as the engine stalled more frequently. Over 25 villagers from Lake Tanganyika's remote villages of Killiipi and Mvuna Island gather daily to rely on this single transportion boat to take them across the lake operated by Brother Gasper of the Benedictine Monks of Mvimwa Abbey.

Attendees enjoyed an evening of live music, raffles, a silent auction and purchasing African items for sale at the event. All silent auction and raffle prizes were donated. Aid Africa’s Children’s resourceful dynamo and event organizer, Debbie Gilliam negotiated a no rental fee for the pavilion used for the event. Also, the owners generously donated 50% of the cost of each pizza purchased to Aid Africa’s Children. It was a beautiful summer evening with free live music. The event raised $2,510 for Brother Gasper’s new boat engine.

Brother Gasper also worked with Aid Africa’s Children’s on their successful rainwater collection project that is now sustainable and complete providing water access to over 3,500 locals in the Ntemba Village area. The rainwater tanks are maintained and operating at the St. Placidus Mvima Primary School.  Previously, the daily trek for water was several kilometers ( 1 kilometer is 0.62 mile),  Now, the average walk is within a 1/2 mile radius for most people. The  villagers are thrilled that this daily task and obligation just got a lot easier!
