Refuge for Sick Pre-schoolers

Pre-schooler sick bed

Sometimes the simplest things like a bed, a pillow and a blanket can be a great comfort in your time of need. You forget the cracks in the wall, you forget the rain drops trickling in, because it is better than being outside in the rain.

Sophie’s Sick Bay room is falling apart. The wood is breaking off, there are small holes punctured through the walls from wear. She combines her Sick Bay room with her Principal’s Office. It is leaning precariously to one side as it balances on bricks to avoid water coming into the office. At the same time, the room is sinking deeper and deeper into the ground due to the water runoff.

Morning LuAnn, This is the sick bay, the sick room it is very small, because I combine the principal’s office with the sick room. It is wood and it has been here for nearly 20 years.

As you can see the wood is now little by little, opening spaces and pieces are falling off that is where the rain drips in, this is how it is, with all the little holes around it, and pieces of the wood falling away, as oppose from to being too old and from the sun.

This is how it is. The roof is corrugated iron, is very very good quality and corrugated. If we were to build this office, we could use the very same material to re-roof it, because it is South Africa’s best quality.

This is the floor of the office. I have put a carpet that was given to me by someone. Outside you can see it is standing on bricks so the water is not seeping in from the bottom.

But, it definitely is falling apart. If you take a closer look, you will see it is hanging to the one side, the weight is going to the one side, because the bricks are going down into the ground because of the water.
