If These Suitcases Could Talk!
Sophie's trip home had 3 flight connections she needed to make with very limited time, including a stop in Qatar before returning to South Africa. She barely made her flight connections coming to the States.
Plus, arriving in the early morning hours at any airport can be daunting especially with two full suitcases brimming with clothes and traveling alone. From experience, Rebecca Schwuchow, Aid Africa’s Children’s VP of Missions, knew about the challenges of this particular airport, and generously purchased a hotel room nearby.
This way, Sophie’s husband could pick her up late at nite, have a safe place to wait for Sophie, and be near Sophie when she arrived. Catching a few hours sleep before driving a long way home was a much appreciated luxury.
Between the rushed connections, the early hours at the airport alone, if Sophie’s luggage could talk about their adventures, they would have plenty to say!
Aid Africa’s Children held a clothes drive for kids 1-15 years of age, as Sophie requested. To maximize what she could bring back, Aid Africa’s Children had 2 suitcases ready for her to fill with as many clothes as she could.
The clothes are emptied on the blanket before being distributed with toiletries for the Soul Sparkles Parcels. Then items are placed in small portions for the kids with their names.
