A Sweet Home Chicago Reception
Sophie and Aid Africa’s Children went to visit the the New Christian Life House of Prayer and Faith on Chicago’s southside to meet and thank them for their wonderful support.
Pastor Ellis and his wife, Bonnie and their congregation welcomed us with open arms! Members of the congregation came up to hug us. Then, they all broke out in a rousing welcome song to us. You could feel the warmth in the room radiating from everyone.
The congregation dressed in colorful African clothing to honor Sophie which comforted her and "made her feel at home.” It seemed like a simple act. But, for Sophie who was miles away from home, it was incredibly thoughtful and heartwarming to see something familiar in a foreign country. There was alot of singing, praising, and scriptures which proved to be very uplifting as well as energizing! Sophie said, it reminded her of her church in South Africa!
Sophie had her first soul food meal in Chicago! It was delicious and lovingly prepared by the Ellis family.
The New Christian Life House of Prayer & Faith gave us a “Sweet Home Chicago” reception that we will be talking about for a long time.
Coming Soon! More Sophie Stories and pictures from her whirlwind trip to America.
