What’s Sophie’s Special Connection to this Chicago Church?
Sophie’s first trip to America and Chicago included a highly anticipated visit with Pastor Ronald Ellis and his wife, Bonnie of the “New Christian Life House of Prayer & Faith and their congregation.
Aid Africa’s Children and Sophie attended a special church service and Soul food luncheon in honor of “Sister Sophie.” The New Christian Life House of Prayer & Faith generously donated to help Sophie build the new Creche kitchen and contributed to her her first stove/oven, a refrigerator and metal shelving unit. The new kitchen and the new appliances for us in America may be standard, but in Africa is considered state-of-the-art beautiful!
After being introduced to Pastor Ellis and his wife, Bonnie, Sophie explained she was having difficulty calling them by their first names. She continued explaining, “in South Africa, she would never call her Pastor or his wife, the First Lady of the Church by their first name.
Pastor Ellis immediately responded by saying, “well then call me Ron, because you're in Chicago now!” which astounded Sophie even more! It was a wonderful and and a true luxury to be able to spend time together on this rare visit to America.
The New Christian Life House of Prayer & Faith gave Sophie a generous donation, and pledged to do future donations for Sophie's Creche.
Coming Soon! More Sophie stories and pictures from her whirlwind trip to America.
